The lights have gone down. The crowd has dispersed. The dust has settled. It’s… January (womp womp).
2025 was a wild ride, culminating in the celebration of my biggest creative accomplishment yet: the release of my debut novel, The Whole Enchilada. I’m thrilled with the reception it’s had, and I’m settling into the grind of marketing this thing and trying to get it into the hands of more readers. It’s not an easy task, especially for an indie author without a team of marketing folks and a big-name press behind me. Still, I’ve never shied away from blazing my own trail. I know where I’m headed, and 2025 was simply the first step in a long journey ahead.
If you’ve already read my book why not leave a review on Goodreads, Amazon, LibraryThing, Bookshop.org, or anywhere else you track your books? You don’t even need to leave five stars – I promise I won’t be offended! Be fair, honest and kind – let people know what you liked and what you didn’t like. You can also just leave a star-rating without writing anything. These may seem like small or insignificant actions, but they add up and keep my title in people’s feeds.
In addition to promoting The Whole Enchilada, hosting and producing a podcast, and working on an oral history project, I’ve begun my second novel. This next book will be quite different from the first, but possibly even more insane. The working title is: “The Vagina Dentata Vendetta,” and it shall be a tome of feminist rage. Buckle up, friends. This one is going to singe your nose hairs right off.
By the way – ICYMI – photos from the launch event are on my blog. Big thanks to Virginia Hernandez Photography for being available to capture this special day. Ilene and I agreed that the event surpassed our expectations. Folks turned out, brought their best energy, and made it a true celebration of community and creativity.
I hope you’re settling into your 2026 groove nicely, and prioritizing your own creativity this year. If you have anything new and exciting on the horizon, let me know! I love to hear about what the people I love are doing with their creative power.
Once again, thank you for your support. Nothing we accomplish in life is done alone, and I’m conscious that I’m able to do this work because of the encouragement I get from my friends, family and community.
Why not sign up for my monthly newsletter while you’re here? I don’t spam, and I never share your data. Because unlike most tech companies, I am cool.
